Stone Facade
A Facade Facing Replacement. Preserved with ZYTERRA.
Restoring and protecting a 12 year old natural stone facade while retaining its original character and colour.
The Problem
- Water penetration caused salt efflorescence and crystallisation across the natural stone.
- The stone was weakening, deteriorating and crumbling at the surface.
- Wholesale replacement would have been disruptive, and new stone would not match the naturally weathered facade.
The ZYTERRA Treatment
- Weakened surface layers were removed, joints repaired and stones too weak to retain were selectively replaced.
- ZYTERRA was then applied as the final strengthening and protective treatment.
- One treatment provided strengthening and water protection while maintaining vapour permeability.
The Result
- The vast majority of the original 12 year old stone was retained.
- The conventional month long wait and a separate sealer visit were avoided.
- The rope access crew, equipment and machinery were required only once rather than twice.
- The completed facade retained the character and colour of the original stone.
