Brick Wall Protection
The Difference Is on the Surface. The Protection Goes Deeper.
A simple outdoor demonstration showing how ZYTERRA changes the way a porous brick surface interacts with liquid water.
The Problem
- Brick facades are built to last, but they remain porous mineral surfaces.
- Repeated exposure to rain allows water to enter brick and mortar.
- Persistent moisture can contribute to staining, biological growth and progressive deterioration of appearance.
- Repeated wetting can also affect the condition of the surface over time.
The ZYTERRA Treatment
- Two similar red bricks were placed outdoors under the same weather conditions.
- One was left untreated as the control. The second was treated with ZYTERRA, diluted by 30% with water and applied using a simple brush.
- ZYTERRA penetrated rapidly into the porous brick. The visible application colour was no longer apparent after approximately one hour.
- Both bricks were then left outside and exposed naturally to the elements.
The Result
- After rainfall, the untreated brick readily absorbed rainwater and became noticeably darker.
- The ZYTERRA treated brick retained a cleaner, fresher appearance.
- Water remained as distinct droplets on the treated surface rather than producing the same saturated appearance.
- The treated mineral surface remained vapour permeable and retained the natural brick appearance.
- This was a simple outdoor demonstration rather than a laboratory test. The photographs document both samples under the same natural rainfall exposure.
